FAQs about hantaran or wedding cake

Do you provide delivery service?
No. Strictly pick-up at our house at our house in Seksyen 19, Shah Alam :). However, we do provide on site assembly for stacked wedding cake (like the picture below) at Serdang-Putrajaya-Bangi-Kajang area with additional charges.

Do you provide transparent box for hantaran cake?
No. You could buy the box from Pasaraya Hero or any kedai hantaran. We will provide the size of the cake. Or you can simply put the cake on the dulang without the transparent box

What is the suitable cake size for hantaran?
Generally 8" round cake as it is neither too small nor too big. But you can opt for bigger cake if you have big dulang. We don't recommend smaller than that.

What is the suitable amount for cupcakes and do you provide transparent box for the cupcakes?
16 or 25 pieces of 2 oz cupcakes would be fine. And we will put them in a cupcake box with transparent lid.

What is the price for hantaran or wedding cake?
The price of the cake vary depending on the size, type of cake, type of frosting, amount of frosting used etc. Fill up the form for quotation.

When do I have to book for hantaran or wedding cake?
As early as possible as we limit the amount of order we take for a day.

Do I have to pay deposit?
You have to pay full amount for your order to be considered book. Transfer the money to our Maybank or CIMB account and send a proof of payment. However, you could pay 50% deposit for wedding cake and pay another 50% when you pick it up.

My wedding is far from Selangor, will the hantaran/wedding cake be okay to be transported in a long distance?

Yes. We have customers who ordered cakes as far as Pahang, Kedah and Johor and they were still okay. However, make sure you place your cake at the bottom of your car seats and turn on the air-conditioner.

Will the frosting melt?
No. We use cream cheese frosting for decorating the cake and it is more stable than buttercream or any other types of frosting. The frosting will become soft, but it won't melt or runny. The decoration will still be in place.

Do you do fondant cakes?
No. All of our cakes are made using buttercream/cream cheese frosting. And as for hantaran/wedding cake, we will use cream cheese frosting.

How long can I keep the cake for?
About a week in the fridge depending on the type of cakes. If you want to keep it longer, you can put it in the freezer. Put the cake inside tupperware or the box, and wrap it with cling wrap.

My first experience making wedding cake using cream cheese

Hey guys, I haven't updated my blog for a while. Was busy writing up my thesis and I'm pretty glad that I've finished writing. Just need to edit and submit my thesis alhamdulillah :D

A while ago a friend of mine asked if I could make wedding cake for her wedding. I've never done it but I was really eager to make one. I am a buttercream person so I don't make fondant cakes. Fondant is pretty, and I am amazed with beautifully crafted fondant cakes, but I don't like the taste of fondant. Besides, it takes a lot of time to make a really pretty and neat fondant cake, which is not suitable for a night-time baker like me.

My friend was okay with the cream cheese frosting, and I told her the design that I could make for her. We discussed over several things; the height, design, price range, color etc. I didn't sketch the design, because I always imagined it in my head (aside from the fact my drawing talent has been declining after I graduated from high school), but my friend was okay with my idea.

I have very small oven thus I have to wait long hours baking the cakes. Because of that, it took me 11 hours to finish making her cake. I was happy with the product though, and she was too after receiving the MMS of her wedding cake.

I am glad that she liked it, and I am happy that I was given an opportunity and trust to make one. Someone said that a wedding is not complete without a cake, and I agree with that even though I don't have one at my wedding :)

Thanks Ermi Lihan for your order, and you were a beautiful bride :)

Red velvet cake with extra cream cheese frosting ordered by Daia

Daia ordered red velvet cake with extra cream cheese frosting for her mother's birthday :) She came to pick up the cake from me at the UPM Mosque before going back to Johor. For those who are interested of buying cakes but afraid that the frosting will melt during the journey, usually if you keep the cake in air conditioned place, the cake will still be okay and the frosting would be fine just that it will be a little bit soft.

Anyway, I asked her feedback on the cake and this is what she said:
Sedap-sedap. First time family aku habis makan the whole cake, we never finish a cake. Haha
It was delicious. The first time my family finished eating the whole cake, we never finish a cake. Haha

Red velvet cake with extra cream cheese frosting
2 layer, 8'
Price: RM 90

Glad that you like the cake Daia :) And thank for ordering :)

She requested minimal decoration, so I just make two simple decorations - large rose and spiral with a heart, one decoration for one topping so that she and her family can tell the difference between the toppings.

Hummingbird cake - Yummy cake combination of banana cake and carrot cake

I was interested of baking this cake after I saw the recipe at Safiyyah's cool Magnolia Bakery cookbook. The name of this cake caught my eyes, and I have been dying to try the recipe ever since. Even though I was quite reluctant to bake it after knowing that pineapple is one of the main ingredients, I changed my mind after reading some of the great reviews about this cake.

This cake was originated from Southern part of United States, and it is one of the famous cakes along with red velvet cake at that region. Some of the bakers said that the cake got its name because of the sweetness of the cake just like the nectar of the flowers. Knowing that, I reduce a lot amount of sugar because I want the cake to be just nice and not too sweet.

I served this cake to our German guest and his Indonesian fiance during dinner. Both of them love the cake, and I love the cake as well. The cake is moist and dense because of banana, and the pecan makes it really caramel-ly and flavorful. Surprisingly, I could not taste the pineapple at all so this cake definitely a winner :D

The cake, just like other reviewers said, does taste like combination of carrot cake and banana cake. Since I am a fan of both cakes, this cake is listed among of my favorites along with vanilla cake and tres leches cake.

The fact pecan is one of the main ingredienst made me feel down a little bit because pecan costs RM 22++ (USD 7.3) for 250 g in Malaysia T_T. How I wish all dairy products and dried nuts and fruits are cheaper here.

p.s: let me know if you want to order this cake, I could use walnut for cheaper substitute.

Specialty cupcakes: Chocoreo Cheez

Introducing my next Oreo specialty cupcake- Chocoreo Cheez, the same Oreo chocolate cake base as Chocoreo Choc but with Oreo cream cheese frosting and Oreo bits on top.

When I brought Chocoreo Choc and Chocoreo Cheez to the lab to test on my 'guinea pigs,' both of them love them so much.

Guinea pig 1 a.k.a Munirah said she preferred Chocoreo Choc while Guinea pig 2 a.k.a Nazira preferred Chocoreo Cheez. Well if you are a chocolate fan I would recommend Chocoreo Choc, but If you are a cream cheese lover (like me) I would suggest the other one :)

Anyway, if you are interested of being my 'guinea pigs' - as in getting to try free cupcakes or goodies when I have extra and give your feedback on them, do let me know. You can eat them for FREE...but, you have to come to my lab (literally) for that hehe

Banana galore week - Banana cake

Ila came to me last Monday, and offered me pisang nangka (pisang - banana; pisang nangka - a variety of banana that has sweet and sour taste) that she got from one of the staffs. I took few pieces to bake cake when suddenly she offered me all of them since no one wanted to have them.

I called my mom and asked what kind of Malay desserts use pisang nangka, and to my disspointment my mom said pisang goreng (banana friters) and serawa (a type of Malay dessert that mainly consists of coconut milk). I haven't used lots of oil and coconut milk for a while and I don't want to start now.

I decided to bake cake instead even though I know that Malaysians won't use this variety of banana for cake because of its sourish taste. I was having a hard time finding a suitable recipe from my collections thus I decided to play safe and bake banana cake with cream cheese frosting - everyone loves cream cheese right :D

The cake was really nice. I put extra banana thus it tasted a little bit like cekodok (banana balls), and the cream cheese really complemented the cake. I brought the cake to the lab and everyone loved it :)

I will post another banana dessert next time :)

Mini red velvet cupcakes with extra cream cheese frosting for Yana's solemnization

Yana, my close friend during primary school ordered 150 mini red velvet cuppies for her solemnization. She requested cream cheese topping to go with the cupcakes and I made sure that each cupcakes were coated with lots of frosting :D I gave her 6 cuppies extra because of the large order she made :)

We met up at Kelana Jaya LRT station, and I parked my car next to the road next to the LRT station. I was surprised when she suddenly parked her car next to mine thus blocking the entrance to the LRT station. I hurriedly gave her the cupcake boxes while the cars behind were maniacally honking at us.

She messaged me last Friday and said sedap gilerrrrr (very yummy) :) All the honking at the road was worth it after all haha.

Note: Minimum order of mini cupcakes is 36 and maximum is 150. The price of mini cupcakes with not too much cream cheese frosting is RM 1.50 each, and extra cream cheese is RM 1.80 each
